Section 1 Ice Hockey 2008-09 Season

The 2008-09 season was arguably the most successful season in the history of ice hockey in our area. This is a year that saw incredible parity among the 29 teams. We saw Matt Willows of Clarkstown North break the New York State record for both points in a season (138) and goals in a season (87). We saw Sean Hagan of Mamaroneck named NYS Division 1 player of the year. We saw Jim Tozzo of New Rochelle and Ed Witz of Pelham each collect their 300th career wins. We saw 14 players named either 1st team, 2nd team, or honorable mention on the All-State teams. We saw six teams from section 1 in the final state rankings from D1 & D2. We saw both Pelham and Mamaroneck reach the state championship game in their respective divisions. And last, but not least, we saw the creation of www.section1hockey.com to keep track of all the stats, standings, scores, schedules, history, news, and everything else pertaining to ice hockey in section 1.

Below are the details of the 2008-09 season. Enjoy.
