Starting with the 2009-10 season, the WRPDIIHL switched to a geography-based league setup rather than the power-league system that had been in place since the league began divisional play back in 1980. Over that time we have seen the league grow to it's current 29 teams necessitating the four leagues we currently have and (up through the 2008-09 season) teams moving from one league to another depending on the strength of their program. It is interesting to look back over the years to see teams that are currently powerhouses who were aveage in the lower leagues years ago, teams currently in the lower leagues who were at the top of league 1 years ago and everything in between.
